Benny Bonsu is the first female Sports editor in the UK, who is the Head of Editorial for one of the world’s largest sports digital platform GiveMeSport. A renowned global sports broadcaster and producer based in London, Bonsu’s on-air assignments include BBC Worldservice focus on NBA, NFL and the English Premier League African athletes, NBA Global Games London for Sky Sports, BT Sports and voice of China’s premier sports brand with NBA star Dwyane Wade brand Li-Ning’s.
Known for her wit and straight to the point interview style by the sporting world as the Oprah of sports. Benny Bonsu is an award-winning Sports Broadcast journalist, who was nominated for “Sportswoman Of the Year” by the Batons Award 2018, a finalist for the prestigious Women Trust’s Award for “Best Media Individual of the Year 2017” and also won “Rising Star for Education and Academia Award for the “We Are The City” Awards 2017 for her work with Girls In Sport Foundation.
In London, Bonsu has served as Sports Operations, and policies manager for LOCOG (London 2012 Olympics), managing teams and the budgets for the operations for the games and project managed the Sport accord conference 2012 with the IOC and International Federations.
She then went onto producing some of the biggest television shows across Africa for the Modern Times Group, alongside serving as one of the leading writers for “TRUE Africa” magazine covering all the African athletes across all sports.
In 2018, she qualified with her NPQSL ( National Professional Qualification of Senior Leaders in Education) after also spending ten years as a secondary school teacher, working with disadvantaged young people across London.
A graduate, she majored in Media and Advertising with International Business. Upon graduation, Bonsu’s industry experience included working with British Basketball Men’s team during their journey for qualifying for Euro basket, working as a media comms manager for the athletes.
Benny Bonsu has also been part of the NBA, NBA UK and Africa family for the past 15yrs, where she actively supports the work they do across the continent and acts as the voice of the athletes in the league through the media and non-for-profit work on the continent.
Benny Bonsu is also a seasoned humanitarian who is recognized globally as an emerging leader with the courage to lead change on the African continent, UK and Asia using sport. Bonsu has a strong commitment to education, women and girls empowerment through sport.
Benny Bonsu is a UN Women Ambassador for end violence against women; she also serves as a board of director for Basketball England and the Westminster Education board in London looking after 250 schools across the UK.
